Bri - Yellow color theory editorial portraits

If you live in Michigan, you know how precious the first few sunny days of spring are. We wanted to represent the mood of that first time you’re able to roll down your car windows and soak in the 50 degree sunshine, the smell of grass instead of salted roads, and the new forsythia blooms that are a sure indicator that the winter finally gone.

Bri put together the perfect look to suit the new spring mood, and it’s tempting me to turn in by all-black wardrobe for….. colors?

Enjoy the sunshine pretty people!

Lauren and Kyle - WMU graduation photos

Okay, so.
I think we all know at this point that senior year for many students did not look like anyone had imagined it. Most classes were virtual, the connections they made on campus had to be more distanced, and their mental resolve had to be the most it’s ever been.
2021 graduates powered through, and have so much to be proud of. I’m so happy that Lauren and Kyle trusted me to be the one to follow them around the spots on WMU’s campus that mean the most to them.

Jenna - Kalamazoo senior photographer

“Jenna is hoping for something a little different than the standard downtown senior photos” is absolutely music to my ears.

I have a mental stash of bold, colorful backdrops to match unique personalities, so we did a tour of some of my favorite Kalamazoo locations (KIK pool and Vine neighborhood) before ending with the best golden hour at Asylum Lake Preserve.

Even though it was what could be described as “dramatically breezy” that day, we dragged strobe lighting with us through most of it, and it was so worth it.

Congratulations Jenna, I hope you share your awesome smile everywhere you go!

Annika - Senior portraits

I’ve had the pleasure of shooting Annika several times over the past few years, and it’s an absolute pleasure every time.
This time, it’s because this stunner is graduating! It may not be the senior year she was expecting, but she’s taken everything 2020 has thrown at her and is still smiling.
Annika wanted a mix of urban and natural photos, so we started in downtown Kalamazoo and traced a great walking path of photo locations until we were completely rained out and had to postpone the other half of the portraits for another day.
I’m petty thrilled we did, because the second day was nothing but golden sun and good vibes! I took them over to Bow in the Clouds preserve just a short hop away from downtown, but feels like an entirely different planet.

Thanks for being awesome Annika, keep on shining!

Liz - Downtown Kalamazoo golden hour portraits

Liz kicked off warm weather portraits with all of an hour to shoot before our light was gone, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have this gorgeous girl in front of my lens.
Her outfit is unbelievably chic (hello usable pockets!) and the best part is it came from her grandmother! I guess there’s no question where she got that great sense of style.
You are fabulous in every way Liz, stay golden.

Emma - Portage senior photos

Emma arrived to our location in the cutest floral pants I have ever seen, and I knew this was going to be an excellent shoot. Then Emma's mom tells me they've been planning on having me take her senior portraits for years, and I pretty much am dying from just how honored I am.
This girl is sweet, and talented, and can rock any pose without prompting! I have no doubt incredible things are in her future.
